Friday, 5/13 – HammerDown Street Drags, Gates open at 6pm, Racing at 7pm
Saturday, 5/14 – Heads Up No Prep #1, Gates open at 3pm. Racing at 5pm
We were able to get racing in last Saturday and had a good turnout. Thank you for your patience with the water issues. The holes we cut out in the middle of the track seemed to help. Since Summit #1 was rained out on 4/30, we are pushing the deadline back to Summit #3 to pay for Summit points, register your pit vehicles and rent your pit stalls. If you had a rented pit stall last year, you get first dibs to rent it for 2016 but if it’s not paid for at Summit #3 then it’s available for others to rent.
5/7/16 – Racing is on for today. Gates will open at 10:30am for Jrs, Racing at 11:30 and 2:30pm for Big cars and Racing at 3:30.
We have diligently did our best to get the track ready to race for today. We have cut holes in the center of the track to relieve the water pressure and are bailing water out of the holes after they fill up. This appears to be enough to stop the seepage from coming up thru the cracks in the lanes. We will closely monitor the water situation all day long, especially as the sun comes out and gets warmer. Thank you for your patience and support. We are anxious to get 2016 racing started. Let’s have some fun today.
5/6/16 – HammerDown Street Drags have been CANCELLED for tonight. For our Saturday bracket racing, the call will be made tomorrow by 8am for Jrs and by Noon for big cars (Summit #2). Thanks for your patience and understanding. We are truly anxious to get our racing season underway for 2016.
5/5/16 – Please pay close attention to the website and facebook for an announcement Friday by 3:00 pm regarding if the track will be running Friday & Saturday. Tuesday looked good but today, as the temperature has gotten warmer, the water has started percolating up through the track. They worked on the track today trying to fix the cracks but water continued to work it’s way up. Mother Nature is just not cooperating with us and seems to be hindering our efforts to get the season going. We are making every effort to fight the water conditions so we can get everyone on the track and having fun. Thank you for your patience.
5/3/16 – Coming up this weekend….

** NHRA has introduced a new program called Member Track Madness. The winner earns a custom #1 Trophy along with 2-single day spectator credentials to any NHRA Mellow Yellow drag racing event. There is only one #1 Trophy so we will have a run-off Saturday night between the Summit #2 winners of the following classes: Sportsman, Pro, Super Pro and Pro Bike. Come on out Saturday and be the first to win a #1 Trophy at I29 Dragway.

4/23/16 – Tonight’s racing has been CANCELLED due to the water seepage on the track. They’ve been trying all morning to get it under control but it’s not happening. If you got your Tech Card back from us last night or we are holding it for future use (vs taking a refund), you can use it for one of the next five Friday nights to come back to TnT. They will be void after May 27th. Sorry we couldn’t get the track to cooperate since it’s such an awesome day out to enjoy some racing.
4/22/16 – Friday night racing was cancelled due to water seepage on the track. Stay tuned for an update of the status of TnT on Saturday, April 23rd. The track will be monitored in the morning and a final call will be made by 1:30pm on Saturday racing. Check our website or our Facebook page.

Repaving the track – 3/20/16
We have had a lot of inquires as to why we have decided not to do the paving on the track in the spring before racing season begins. We reached out to Div 5 Director Rob Parks about our paving plans and he recommended that we speak with the gentleman who oversees a lot of the track pours for the NHRA. After talking to Wayne about our plans he suggested that we wait till the end of the season to allow more cure time. Being in construction we always think about concrete in the PSI factor, however, track pours are different, in the fact that PSI is way less important. The track is prepped with a sticky product to help with traction, and then we have cars, dragsters and motorcycles going down the track with large sticky tires which in turn makes the concrete want to delaminate. The top 1″ of concrete wants to separate and pull up from the rest of the concrete, as during the finishing process the smaller aggregate and portland come to the top. The only way to help eliminate this problem is to allow the concrete to cure as long as possible. When we were thinking about doing it in the spring the cure time was only going to be 2-3 weeks at the most where it needs to be 4-6 weeks at the very least. After talking to some of our racers that are in the concrete business, it was determined that waiting till the fall made sense for the long term good of the track. Rob, from the NHRA, also mentioned that a couple of tracks had to tear out and replace concrete due to delamination from tires pulling up the surface. We will now do some patching of the surface for this year and plan on pouring at the end of the racing season. We may even have to cancel one or two of the races at the end of the season to allow us to get this done before the weather gets bad since we need the concrete to cure a little before the temp falls and stays below freezing for a extended time.
Job Fair on March 19th and April 2nd at I29 Dragway – Noon to 4pm
- The job fair will be for part-time positions on both the drag strip and road course.
- Come to the Drag Strip Tower to complete an application
